Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." Tenebrae brings focus on the moment in history wherein Adonai Eloheinu (the Lord, our God) takes our place on the cross of shame. It is intended to help us experience the weightiness of this event that which brings the specter of agony to the very courts of heaven.
